Example bootstrap/kernel configuration

Any ideas if there are examples to bootstrap/start/configure the microcontainer in cvs ? Should I be looking at jboss-head for the Main start class that does this? The reason I ask is that I want to run jboss messaging standalone without the need for jboss as.
