Reporting is near and dear to my heart, well mostly the PHB's love their reports and they are the one's that decide on my cashflow.
As an aside. This project would neatly integrate into some middleware that I am going to write for DOD ( big believer's in report and their distribution ).
Also integrating Seam, BPM and ESB would allow easy report generation, distribution and online viewing. Basically BPM could be configured with batch schedules that generated the reports and dumped onto an ESB end point reference and they could be distributed by many means. Seam could also be used to generate an online report viewing repository.
