Switching toggle panel state from rich:tree?

Is there any way to switch the state of a rich:togglePanel when selecting a node from a rich:tree?
I tried using rich:componentControl, but I couldn't figure out which operation to call.

public client side AOI still not available for the component.

You could manage the state during ajax request. just bind value attribute to the String property and set the value to some pane name during your action.
