tfennelly Jun 15, 2007 6:10 AM (in response to mhammam)Check the VM level charset (default charset). It will be picked up from the OS. You may need to set this to ISO-88591.

You could write a simple unit test that sets that property and then call Charset.defaultCharset(). Looking at the code in Charset.defaultCharset(), it's using this system property.
