File Picked Up By File Gateway But Service Not Invoked

We have observed cases where a file is picked up by a file gateway, but the service containing the file listener is not invoked. We have tried debugging, and see that the LocalFileMessageComposer class is called, and the message seems to flow into the service, but we see neither the message in a queue, nor any actions called in the service.

Has anyone seen behavior like this?

Presumably you see no warnings from the gateway (e.g., about the message being null)?

Try adding a meta-data filter to your gateway. They get called after the composer has run and before the composed message is sent to the service.

After following this problem through, it turned out that the JUDDI registry was caching old EPR values. (The result was that messages composed from files ended up on the wrong queues). I removed the cached values, and this solved the problem. Is this fixed in future releases?

There are a couple of updates that we're considering that would help remove stale entries from the registry automatically. A complete fix would involve a failure suspector component, which requires a bit more time than we have before the next release and is more invasive. Hopefully the updates I mentioned will be sufficient for now.
