15. Re: Problem with helloworld_ftp quickstart?
jpechanec Jun 16, 2008 1:20 AM (in response to zurchman)Hi,
can you try to switch to passive mode?<ftp-message-filter username="myname" password="mypassword" passive="true" directory="/Users/myname/jbossftp" input-suffix=".dat" work-suffix=".esbWorking" post-delete="false" post-suffix=".COMPLETE" error-delete="false" error-suffix=".HAS_ERROR" />
Maybe there is an issue with firewall and this will help...

marklittle Jun 16, 2008 7:32 AM (in response to zurchman)I didn't change the directory. I only set the user name and password. Everything else was defaulted.

Switching to passive mode fixed my problem!
My apologies for turning this into a OS X Networking thread.
I sincerely appreciate all the help.
I see an FTP service as an important tool for integrating legacy applications.
Thanks! -

kconner Jun 16, 2008 12:18 PM (in response to zurchman)Can I ask you to rerun the new test client in any case? The report you sent me highlighted an issue and I would like to see what it now shows ;)
Email is on the way with the new test client. -

21. Re: Problem with helloworld_ftp quickstart?
kconner Jun 16, 2008 1:15 PM (in response to zurchman)Thanks very much for that, it was very helpful.
I have modified our code to match the FTP test client and will check it into trunk very soon. We now detect this situation and provide a better response.
The problem was definitely the data connection back to the client. The FTP server responded with a 500 response and an error message stating that it had rejected the PORT command. Enabling passive mode is one way to fix this issue.
Thanks again for your help,
Kev
