JBoss JTA in a standalone Hibernate app

This is my first posrt here so hello all!
Currently I'm trying to develop a simple Hibernate app which would use JBoss JTA, but I'm failing. I don't know how to do this. Is it possible to use JBoss JTA without JBossAS?
If this is possible, could anyone tell me or direct me to resources on this toppic?

Do you mean the JTA component of JBossTS, or the old transaction manager? If the former, then yes it's always been designed to run outside of an application server.

I downloaded one of the jars there. I don;t know anything about "the old transaction mnanager". Could you point to any resources?
Is the JTA compoenent I have work standalone?

JBossTS can be used stand-alone. That includes the JTA component. Check the docs and examples. Check the labs pages. Check the wiki.
