Replace JBoss TM with JBoss Transactions in JBoss 4.0.5

Hi All,

In a neighbour topic (http://www.jboss.com/index.html?module=bb&op=viewtopic&t=141778) I've investigated a problem, and a solution could be to upgrade from JBossTM to JBoss Transactions in my JBoss 4.0.5. Yes I know, that JBoss 4.0.5 is now very obsolete, however this is not under my control, as it frequently happens when the system you're supporting is both old and big :/

The release notes for JBoss 4.2 says that the user can always fall back from JBoss Transactions to JBossTM, but I haven't managed to find a document how to perform the reverse operation, and indeed not even a single mention anywhere that it is possible.

So, could please anyone advise me on that?

Let me see if I've understood this: The powers that be won't let you replace an old, obsolete and unsupported bit of software with one that is still actively developed and supported. But they are happy for you to do radical surgery on the old one, even though there is no evidence the procedure has been attempted before, much less performed successfully?

Ahh well, if the internet works in your weird and twisted reality the same way it works in mine, you can try downloading http://www.jboss.org/downloading/?projectId=jbosstm&url=/jbosstm/downloads/4.2.3.SP7/binary/jbossts-jta-4.2.3.SP7.zip and following the instructions in the INSTALL file. YMMV as we no longer test against AS 4.0.

We'll see, what we'll do, I guess that an actively developed and supported solution will be much more preferable than a Frankenstein Application Server. Anyway having two options is better than having a single one ;)
