CR1 CPU Usage is Sky High

Hi,

The other day I moved from the Beta5 release to  CR1.

All I changed in my source code was to add the Resource Adapter annotation for hornetq-ra in my MDBs.

Since then I have noticed that in general my app server is less responsive.

Running the "top" command I notice that a single CPU is always at 100% and every 20-30 seconds CPU usage will go through the roof with upto 100 new threads created. I don't even send any messages. All I do is start the server.

With Beta5 this never happened, during idle the CPU would be at 2-3%.

I'm not saying this is the fault of CR1 but I'd interested to hear if there are any reasons you can think of for why this happened.

I'm using the same Jboss version across both releases 5.1.0.GA

it's likely you've been hit by this bug on CR1 (https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/HORNETQ-241) which was fixed in 2.0.0 CR2.

Ok, some further information.

If I start the server after removing my app from the deploy directory behaviour is exactly the same.

Guess I'm migrating to CR2.

How much changed in this release? It couldn't have been that much I hope.

Can I just copy libraries into a CR1 release on JbossAS5?

For anyone who's interested the only things that changed in CR2 regarding a JBoss5 install are the libs and the hornetq-ra.rar folder in the deploy directory.

So if your upgrading from CR1 you can save yourself some time by copying these from a fresh JBoss build into your CR1 JBoss build removing the need to reconfigure the whole of JBoss again.
