Just to add more details - the problem occurs more frequently on Firefox 3.5.x. This problem occurs on IE 6 also though it is not as frequent.

Thanks for your suggestion. But, we have other pages on the site where there is no 'immediate' attribute and this problem occurs in them too. So I feel that this is not the cause.

As per your advice, we will upgrade the versions. However, this is a production site and the upgrade to newer versions needs to be planned and would need some time.
Could you suggest some options/areas I should focus on to find a quickfix to this problem.
