Importing schemas and source models in Teiid designer

    mdahlman

      Hi all,

I'm new to Teiid Designer; I have run into what is likely a very simple problem, but it's preventing me from getting very far.

I went through the quickstart tutorial (http://www.jboss.org/teiid/quickstart.html), but I got stuck. The steps were like this:

      1. Switch to the Designer Perspective. OK.
      2. Create new "Model Project". No problem.
      3. Import the Derby database's "account" schema into a source model. Uh oh. I don't see what context menu I need. There's one called "Schema"... but I don't see how to use it.
      4. Manually create the source model for the "Text File". Hmm... I am missing something simple somewhere.

Presumably the author didn't mention the menu choices or toolbar icon because it's so obvious... but just don't see it.

To be precise, I'm looking at this page:

      http://docs.jboss.org/teiid/6.1/quick-start-guide/en-US/html/designer.html

You can see in the screenshot that the model appears to be working well. The menu I need is no doubt right there. Likewise, I successfully created the portfolio tables in MySQL and (as shown in the image) I created a connection pointing to them. But I don't see how to read in the table definitions. The same goes for the text file. I can create a table with appropriately named columns... but somehow I don't see how to link it to my text file.

Any help in getting this working would be much appreciated.

      Regards,

      Matt
