Cluster Question

Hello,

The Set Up:

Cluster of 2 HornetQ servers - (no live/backup pair - just independent HornetQ servers)

Clients connected to both the nodes in the cluster. This is via client side load balancing (creating multiple sessions from a connection)

Now, if one of the HornetQ servers is taken down, what is the expected behavior? Note that there is not live/backup setup.

And if the HornetQ server is brought back up, what is the expected behavior?

Client Reconnection explains how to configure the client to re-connect to the server.

But while the server is down, if the client tries to post a message what would be the behavior?

As stated on the manual, reattach is for transient failures.

You need to configure retry options on the ConnectionFactory.

- When a permanent failure is detected the session will be failed over (while the backup will be activated).

- Case you don't have a backup node, the session will be closed and you won't be able to use the session any more. you can also use the listeners to detect failures.
