Tree: Organisation Tree Possible?

Hi,

I'm looking to draw dynamic trees in a web-page, but have them look more like an "organisation" tree: like http://www.kitamuraltd.jp/images/soshiki_e01.gif where

• Branches from a node go up as well as down, so...
• ...all of the end nodes are the same vertical width from each other
• And where distinct "columns" of nodes does *not* overlap. For example in the demo http://livedemo.exadel.com/richfaces-demo/richfaces/tree.jsf "The Road to Hell" would be further to the right than its parent "Chris Rea"

Would this be possible using Rich Faces? If so: how? (I realise the "How" answer might be a bit involved, but a rough outline of what to look into would be great!)

unfortunatelly this not possible with the tree component.

Is it possible to go in and change/extend the tree component to do these things, or is it that they are are just completely impossible, and I shouldn't even try? (I'm willing to put in a bit of effort to acheive them, it's just that I'm not quite sure where to start...)

you will have to rewrite component renderer/template for that. you could try to look through  the CDK documentation to become familiar with our component development process.
