metric result too big for page

As part of the HornetQ plugin I am writing i have a metric of data type trait that returns a very long string. This String is actually a comma separated list of objects. Is there any way off outputting the results of a metric as a list similar to the way operations can?

The max size of a trait is 4000 characters (about 40 lines); if the value returned by your plugin is longer than that, it will be automatically truncated to 4000 characters. The best place to view a trait with a really long value is on the Monitor > Traits tab. for values longer than 4000 characters, I'd recommend using an operation instead. Since our configuration GUI does not currently support lists-of-simples, I'd recommend having the operation return a list-of-maps, where each map in the list contains a single simple property.

this is actually only about 200 characters. However th eoutput in the admin-console disapears of the end of the htmp page. Ive attached a screenshot to show.

That's a bug in the admin console. It should be wrapping the value. Please see if there's an issue for that at https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/EMBJOPR, and if not, please create one. If you are any good with HTML/CSS and would like to take a shot at submitting a patch, you can find the source to that page here:
