Useless search

Why, when I do a search on the term "DatabaseServerLoginModule" can it not find this wiki entry:

http://community.jboss.org/wiki/DatabaseServerLoginModule

There are so many wiki enbtries that I used to be able to easily find with search on the old wiki/forum, but are just plain unfindable on the new wiki/forum.

I felt the same the first few days, until i got used to the new forum search ways. Apparently, the search string that you enter in the top right of the page,  results in a search query which filters the result to show only the "last 90 days" threads/articles etc...

I have now got used to doing this:

1) Enter my search string and search

2) Most of the times, ignore the search results (because i am sure i won't find them on first attempt)

3) On the search result page, click on the "More Options" tiny symbol

4) Under the "When" dropdown select "All"

5) Do any other search filtering (like uncheck the search for "People")

6) Click on the Search button

Surely a lengthy way of doing it. And on those days, when the forum editor has frustated me enough,  i just use google searchbar in my browser. Much faster and much more effective (ex: "DatabaseServerLoginModule jboss wiki"  shows up as first result)

Wow, from 1 step to 6. Someone must have taken a page from the Windows Vista playbook.

Hi there,

I must admit that 6 steps is not very user friendly :-/

I've juste checked how search form is implemented in upcoming new version of Clearspace (SBS 4.x) and it's much user friendly - there is no restriction like last 90 days by default.

I think you'll be much more satisfied with that.

That's good to hear. I'm eagerly awaiting for the upgrade to happen to get rid of the forum editor issues and other issues like these

This perhaps should be available as a link from some toolbar on each page of the forum, for easy/quick access. Maybe somewhere beside the "New", "Your Stuff", "History", "Browse" links.
