combobox/selectItems : label vs. value

hi there,

i am quite new to richfaces and just evluate components for an upcoming project...

-> i just stuck with the problem of selectItems within rich:comboboxes ignoring the SelectedItem.label value but showing the value instead...

-> i also tried the suggestionbox along with using setPropertyActionListener, but was running into other problems (using sun jsf 1.2, saying tag not found... ^^)

can anyone point me to an example, showing a combo/suggestionbox with "classic" business behaviuor (shown label != value)?

Hi,

I also had issuees with  itemLabel from rich:comboBox it seems that only itemValue is recognize there and itemLabel is build using itemValue.

what would be best practise, if the selectable items in the bean aren't unique concerning the value i want to show to the user, but have an unique id i want to refer to?

it would be useless to show the ids to the user - but it would even cause  trouble to let the user select a non unique entry (showing the label)...

are there efforts to change the selectedItems behaviuor in future releases?

I believe that a converter is need but how it should be implemented i don't know, i run into a similar issue.
