duplicate deployment of a web application

In JBoss 4.2.2 on Windows, I am seeing duplicate deployment of a web application packaged as a war! This application shows up twice in JMX console under Jboss.web.deployment as:

id=1580376565,war=app-web.war  and

id=-95126552,war=app-web.war

The two wars are identical! These appear under tmp\deploy\tmpxxxapp-web.war and tmp\deploy\tmpyyyapp-web.war and I see them getting deployed in server.log!

What can cause such a scenario and how to avoid it?

I haven't heard about similar issue. What happens if you deploy the war as a exploded deployment instead of as an archive? And instead of 4.2.2 have  you tried 4.2.3 or 5.1.0?
