Many JBoss Instances OR Servers in Cluster ??

Hi,

    We are about to create a JBoss 4.2.0 Clustered environment in our production and test servers.

Priorly , for experiment we have created a clustered environment in one physical machine , with multiple JBoss Server INSTANCES.

But , now we are confused :-

Should we have multiple JBoss Instances OR Multiple JBoss Servers in a clustered environment to have the optimum performance !!!

Kindly suggest , which way should we go !!

A primary purpose of JBoss AS Clustering is to provide HA, and part of HA is eliminating single points of failure. So you need more than one server.

It's not an either/or question though; it's common to run more than one instance on a machine and have multiple machines. Typically that is done when one instance is unable to take full advantage of the machine's resources.
