Number as commandLink -Parent not an instance of ValueHolder

I have a number which I want to represent as a commandLink:

<a4j:commandLink value="100" action="..." >
<f:convertNumber/>
</a4j:commandLink>

Unfortunately, I get this error:

<f:convertNumber> Parent not an instance of ValueHolder: org.ajax4jsf.component.html.HtmlAjaxCommandLink@1970203

Hello,

Converter can be attached to ValueHolder only. Command link is not an instance of ValueHolder. Add h:outputText inside.

thank you. I have solved that via a4j:support:

<h:outputLabel value="#100">
<f:convertNumber/>
<a4j:support event="onclick" action="#{...}" >
</a4j:support>
</h:outputLabel>

Is that better as using commandLink with nested outputLabel?:

<a4j:commandLink action="#..." >
<h:outputText value="1000">
<f:convertNumber/>
</h:outputText>
</a4j:commandLink>

The a4j:support-solution makes less markup than a4j:commandLink.
So I guess, I prefer the first one.
