Should modal panel be called in the same jsp where it is dec

Hi,

I read in the RF documentation that the modal Panel should be declared in a page and should be called from a different page. When I tried it, it didn't work. It should be declared and called from the same page. The examples on the demo also does the same.

Could you please confirm this?

On the demo page (http://livedemo.exadel.com/richfaces-demo/richfaces/modalPanel.jsf?c=modalPanel) there is a note at the bottom that says this:

The modal panel has an absolute layout.There is no reason to put it on the page where it is called.

I also would like to have the modal panel on a different page but was not able to get this to work. Does anyone have an example?

In fact, I would like to show the modal panel from an action method of a backing bean

action=#{modalPanelPage.show()}

but there does not seem to be a way to show the panel from a backing bean only from javascript on the page. If anyone has a comment on how to call from an action method I would appreciate the help.

Hi,
You can include page2 code within page1 code using jsp:include or a4j:include. So that page2 comes in a modal panel.For eg:

page1.jsp
<h:form>
// page1 jsp codes written using JSF or any
// Call the below modal panel by a button click in this code
</h:form>

<<rich:modalPanel id="lPanelId" autosized="true" top="20px" left="90px" moveable="true" styleClass="rich-modalpanel rich-mpnl_panel">
 <jsp:include page="/page2.jsp"/> // Include page2.jsp using a modal panel
 </rich:modalPanel>
