Changing date format

I'd like to change the date format from "MM/dd/yyyy" to "dd/MM/yyyy". I tried to change JVM's locale thinking that -Duser.language=pt -Duser.region=BR would be interpreted by Jopr but it didn't work.

Is it supposed to work? Are there any other configurations?

I fear most (all?) our date formats are hardcoded to US-English standards
