how to identify available port

hi,

i was successfully start the jboss after  change the port number 8080 to 9090 but the page turn blank when i change port 8080 to port 8083?
why is that is that happen and how to check whether the particular port can be assigned (change the default)to port 8080?

i really appreciate if anyone could explain this to me

By default， port 8083 is used for a mini web server to dynamic load resource and class. To identify available ports, you can use netstat command in the Windows OS, use lsof command in the Linux OS.
