a4j:mediaOutput + a4j:keepAlive

I have a page with a request scoped that is being kept alive using a4j:keep live ..everythg seemed to work fine until i introduced a4j:mediaoutput in it..
after i have a4j media output in the page the bean is no longer being kept alive..

i have no idea as to what could have gone wrong..
any help very much appreciated..
