ilya_shaikovsky Mar 30, 2009 7:22 AM (in response to martind1111)a4j:poll creates the same request as commandButton or support. So it goes through the lifecycle and session kept alive.

martind1111 Mar 30, 2009 7:37 AM (in response to martind1111)Is there a construct in RichFaces that would allow me to refresh a portion of the screen without impacting the time-to-live session timeout?

ilya_shaikovsky Mar 30, 2009 7:46 AM (in response to martind1111)a4j:push polls the server with minimalistic head requests and not goes through JSF lifecycle. But if event available it sends normal request. So your session will not be kept if you will use push and there will be no updates needed during timeout time. In the other case session will be also restored.

You can implement session invalidation on timeout programmatically using listeners defined in Servlet API.
