IE8 rich:calendar is transparent

I will preface my question with the statement that I am a novice with RichFaces and have inherited a project with some IE8 issues.

The calendar pop-up has a white background when rendered in IE6, but is transparent in IE8.

I was able to change the color of the month/year pop-up in IE6, but it did not change in IE8.

I was fishing around to see if there was a parameter for the calendar background that could be set.

We are running JBoss 4.0.4 GA, RichFaces 3.1.4.GA, MyFaces 1.1.4, tomahawk 1.1.3, Seam-Version: 1.1.6.GA

I hope this is enough information to generate some help from the community.

I was able to set the background color to white and that seemed to fix the problem
