Ajax examples needed

Can someone please provide some examples for the GateIn's Ajax Framework (PortalHttpRequest)? Specifically using Javascript.

I have a need to  to make an ajax call and return the response into a specific div on current portlet page..  Currently my entire portlet is being replaced by the ajax response.

Why not use Richfaces using PortletBridge. http://docs.jboss.org/portletbridge This way, you wont be tied to GateIn internal.

We are migrating existing Struts 2 applications, so we are using the Struts 2.0 Portlet Bridge (JSR 168) which seems to work fine. However, just having some trouble understanding how the GateIn Ajax component.
