JBOSS WON'T START

hi everyone

I just installed jboss-5.1.0.GA and I also added JBOSS HOME DIRECTLY into the environment variables.

But then when I try to start it in cmd prompt typing run.bat I get this

did you make any changes to the JBoss config? According to the error message, a directory is missing:

How did you unzip the zip file? Did you select all of the files and then unzip the selected files? If so, that will not work - there are no files in the server/default/lib directory. To properly unzip the zip file, you muist extract the entire file. Using winzip (or Dolphin on Linux), I right-click the file and select "extract here".

Hi

I did download jboss-5-1-0 GA and added the new directly in environment variables and my jboss start perfectly fine from command prompt. The problem is when I try to configure jboss server to eclipse I select the jboss server but when I click on next then I get an error it still look for the old directly that I deleted and says it is invalid.

I don't know what to do please help!

You will have to be a little clearer on the steps you did in Eclipse (for example, just about every page in the New Server wizard has a Next button so I have no idea which one you clicked).

There are two levels to configuring a server. One level is identifying the "Server Runtime Environment", the other level is identifying the server. Apparently, while on the "Define a New Server" you are still using the prior "Server Runtime Environment". Instead, you should click the "Add..." link, and in the New Server Runtime Environment dialog identify the new location of JBoss AS and then use that in the "Define a New Server" dialog.

By the way, I do hope that you are using JBoss Tools, you will have much better luck with that than with the JBoss AS capabilities built into Eclipse.
