What happens to active threads / transactions during a JBoss Shutdown?

      Hello everyone,

I hope this is the right place to answer this kind of question.

I would like to know what happens when a shutdown signal is sent to JBoss and there are active threads or transactions (e.g. there are ongoing active EJB calls). Does JBoss wait for these to terminate their activity? Ore will active threads be killed?

Or, to ask a high level question: How can an IT appartment shutdown JBoss instances without causing inconsistencies or data loss? Is there anything to prepare or consider?

      Best regards and thanks!

      Alexander
