Dynamically include modalPanel (on-demand)?

Is it possible to include a rich:modalPanel dynamically into a page based on user input? I have a page that contains several modal panels that each have different layouts. I would like to avoid the overhead of processing components that are referenced by these panels until they are actually required (minimize initial page size and server processing time). The panels should be loaded only when the user performs the action that would require to show them.

I have the panels each in separate xhtml files and would ideally make the include dynamic. But this does not seem to work in the case of modalPanel. The panel will never show on Richfaces.showModalPanel('xyzModalPanel'); unless it was included as part of the initial page. The wizzard example shows how to switch the content of a panel, in this case I would like to load the entire panel dynamically.

You may create the ModalPanel programatically (Application.createComponent) in response to any action / value change listener. Once created, add the panel to the JSF component tree. Remember, you might require a seperate form for each of the modalpanel (due to an IE bug). Then, use setShowWhenRendered(true) so that the ModalPanel is displayed.

How about using rendered attribute? But b.t.w. having one modal panel but with manageable include inside seems a good solution.

Ilya, I tried to use the rendered attribute on the modalPanel tag, too. That did not work, the panel never showed up after rendered evaluates as true. Do you have a working example for this?

do not forget that you should not reRender conditionally rendered elements. And reRender some parent components which is always rendered instead.

I found that reRender of a conditional include does the trick:
