How to have the same field/s on multiple tabs

I have some total fields which I would like to show on more than one tab. I started out by just putting copies of them on both tabs but I want to update the totals as data is entered on detail fields in the tabs. It seems like there should be a way to show the same fields on mutiple tabs without having to copy them. It seems like there would almost have to be something like a Tab template which would have an area that was the same for all tabs sharing that template. Any suggestions on how to appraoch this?
