henk53 Dec 24, 2010 5:21 AM (in response to henk53)As it seems, the TAG has been made, but the release has been postponed to December 31, 2010
Oh well, what's another week
Just curious btw, is the extra week used for testing or is it just that everyone is away for the Holliday season and there's just nobody available to do the final upload?

It's mainly due to the holidays. Most of us, including the QA team, are away and trying to release this major version in a hurry without proper testing wouldn't be a good idea.

henk53 Dec 24, 2010 5:47 AM (in response to jaikiran)I hear you. Incidentally, we are in the same situation. Major version ready, but we're delaying the release since nobody is at the office.
But this does mean that you always first tag, and then do the (last amount of) testing?

Our last release involved "branching" and then doing the final testing. Any bugs identified during the last phase of testing were fixed in that branch (and ofcourse trunk). This time, most of the testing has been done (the code freeze was last Friday) and the current snapshot looks good enough. Just a final round of sanity testing and the usual release formalities remains and we don't really expect any bugs at this stage.

henk53 Dec 24, 2010 6:01 AM (in response to jaikiran)I see. Thanks a lot for this explanation. Really looking forward to the final release of JBoss AS 6!
What's the plan for the next version of JBoss AS btw? The page about the first followup for 6.x is still rather empty: https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBAS/fixforversion/12315870
Meanwhile, there seems to be a lot of energy going for 7.x. Will 6.0 be a single release, of will there be 6.0.x and 6.x versions?

28. Re: Jboss 6 Final Version
shelly.mcgowan Jan 3, 2011 7:14 PM (in response to theoverlord)The Enterprise offering (EAP 6) will be based off the JBoss AS 7 release. This will include the same certified EE technology components in addition to enhanced management capabilities (domain model). More information about the JBoss EAP Roadmap can be seen in the presentation from JBoss World 2010.
