Ultimate use of rich:tree?

I have checked the example provided on richfaces demo exadel and then tried to implement in my local server. It works as expected.

But what is its use besides just displaying the folder and its contents.

What I want to do more?

I am looking for when the user click on the item, it should open the file. Is it possible to accomplish this? i think so definitely. So the problem is I need a working example where when I click it opens the file. In my scenario, I am looking to open a pdf file.

Please do drive me thru such example or any of your experience how you guys did used it? And also I think there is no good reference material for it.

I guess you can add h:commadLink/h:commandButton to every treeNode and an action of this command element must send a file to user. It will look like this:

But this file will be opened by browser automatically in a default application. I'm afraid you can't do this with a4j elements because they are not intended to do this work.
