JBoss AS 6 - A note of thanks to the community
Most of you, by now know that JBoss AS 6.0 Final was released last week. For those of you who haven't yet noticed, here's the [announcement|http://lists.jboss.org/pipermail/jboss-development/2010-December/016782.html] and the release notes [here|http://community.jboss.org/docs/DOC-16254]. As is common with any major release, a lot of efforts have gone into this version. Not just the developers but even the help from the community users has helped a lot in improving the quality of this release. So here's a thank you note to some of those community users who helped in one way or other with AS6 release: [Frank Cornelis|http://community.jboss.org/people/fcorneli] - Not only did Frank report a [bug|https://issues.jboss.org/browse/EJBTHREE-2152] in the JBoss EJB3 timerservice implementation, he also helped [verify a fix|https://issues.jboss.org/browse/EJBTHREE-2152?focusedCommentId=12571199&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-12571199] against PostgreSQL DB, that too on a weekend. [Frank Langelage|http://community.jboss.org/people/lafr] - Frank promptly reported some of the issues with the AS 6 snapshots, that had crept in during the SwitchBoard integration for AS 6. [Juergen Zimmermann|http://community.jboss.org/people/Juergen.Zimmermann] - Juergen has been one of the users who keeps using the latest version of JBoss AS and he has helped many times by reporting issues in the milestone, CR or even the latest snapshots. [Nicklas Karlsson|http://community.jboss.org/people/nickarls] - As can be seen in his forum posts, Nicklas has constantly helped by reporting any issues with the latest AS 6 snapshots. [Nick Newman|http://community.jboss.org/people/Nick.x.Newman] along with [Elias Ross|http://community.jboss.org/people/genman] helped, by first reporting [this|http://community.jboss.org/thread/156924] issue and then by investigating and [verifying|https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBTHR-17] the fix. [Rico Neubauer|http://community.jboss.org/people/MrEasy] - As can be seen in Rico's posts, he has been doing some performance tests against AS 6 snapshots, using some of his applications. It's always good to see some real applications being tested against the community AS for performance. These were some of the users who were noticed in the forums. There are others who directly reported some issues in the JIRA. Although, their names haven't been mentioned here, a big thank you to them too! Other than these community members who helped with AS6, there are some others who have been constantly helping by answering various questions in the forums. So here's a note of thanks to those users: [Peter Johnson|http://community.jboss.org/people/peterj] - I'm sure, users who have visited the forums will agree with me that Peter has been a huge help in keeping these forums active. In the past few years, he has helped a lot of community members ranging from newbies to advanced users around various JBoss projects. [Wolf-Dieter Fink|http://community.jboss.org/people/wdfink] - Wolf-Dieter has been an active member who has been helping by answering many of the posts in these forums. [Wolfgang Knauf|http://community.jboss.org/people/WolfgangKnauf] - Just like Peter, Wolfgang has been around in the forums for years and has been constantly helping by answering various forum posts. So a big thanks to all of you and others who have helped in some way or the other (I might have missed some names) towards the JBoss AS efforts! More articles/tutorials on AS 6 will follow soon.
