Error while invoking HTMLSelect's getOptionByValue("somestr").setSelected(true)

Please excuse for the long post. I am trying to resolve this issue unsuccessfully for the past 4 days and any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am testing a JSF page with jsf HTML and richfaces controls (calendar,editor,fileattachment,suggestion).

An error is being thrown when I try to set option value of a HTMLSelect in the page.

Error thrown is

I am seeing the following error in the console logs (repeated several times)

Is there an Ajax request happening when you do any of the other actions?

Just asing because someone else has had issues with HtmlSelects and Ajax. (I wasn't able to reproduce it but....never know)

Tim,

There is an an a4j request onchange of the HTMLSelect. The select component in the xhtml is as follows
<h:selectOneMenu id="requestTypeValue" value="#{visitingScholar.requestType}" disabled="#{visitingScholar.readOnly}">
<f:selectItems value="#{appMasterData.requestTypeList}"/>
<a4j:support event="onchange" ajaxSingle="true" oncomplete="showErrorMessage()" reRender="requestTypeValue"/>
</h:selectOneMenu>

But the confusing part is that in the error message it is giving an error on the editor.js which is believe is associated with the rich:editor.

I have 3 rich:editor controls on the page and was curious to know if this is creating the issue.

Also can you please provide some more details on the issues that others had with HTMLSelects and Ajax, Is it similiar to the issue that I am facing? Was there any solution for that issue?

I was able to confirm that this exception is being caused due to the rich:editor. I removed all the rich:editor controls in the jsf page and the JSFUnit tests passed without any errors. As soon as I add one rich:editor control it gives the below error

I believe that this error is easily reproducible by just adding a rich:editor to the jsf page being tested. Could you please have a look at this , if possible reproduce this error at your end and provide instructions on how to resolve this error. Please help as I will not able to use JSFUnit for my project if this issue is not resolved.

Hi,

maybe disable the rich:editor component (the editor component has many different problems with HtmlUnit) and try again.
