e.g. you shouldn't rely on any impl detail -- simple code against InputStream, whatever impl that might be

I'm using a plugin that used to work with JBoss 5.1.0.GA and does not work with 6.0.1. I didn't write it. So no backward compatibility?
5 -> 6 is a major version bump, same with VFS 2 -> 3.
So no guarantee it will be back compatible.
What kind of plugin is this?
Like I said, I/O is always an issue, with lots of bad assumptions.
Protocol handling mostly being the major pita.
Majority of frameworks provide proper hooks or actually doing work w/o protocol impl assumptions.
