reRender content inside a portlet from another portlet

I have quite strage question to which I couldn't find answer so far. I have 2 portlets - if I change values in one of them, the second one have to reRender it's part containing those values using AJAX call. My use case is different, but it should be explained by this scenario: I write a text in one portlet, which is saved to the backing bean using onkeyup event. While I type, the second portlet should perform a query to the database and show it's results. Does anyone know how to achieve that?

My portlets use JBoss PortletBridge 2.1.0.FINAL, RichFaces 3.3.3.FINAL and are deployed on GateIn portal with JBoss AS 5.0.

I tried using Ajax Push but all portlet instances across sessions , browsers, etc get re-rendered, not just the one for that particular session, does this happen to you??
