What is the best approach to monitor wsrp producer response time ?

Hi,

I have done a research regarding the configuration of a performance monitor related to the wsrp producer portlets and I have tried to use the Valve AccessLog to monitor,but unfortunately all the wsrp calls to the producer goes to the same markup endpoint and we can’t make a clear distinction about which portlet was triggered.

For example weblogic portal has the wsrp monitor that gives the necessary information but jboss portal apparently don’t offer such a tool.

Is there someone that can suggest what is the correct approach of monitoring the producer response times from the Jboss ?

Hi Bogdan,

There is no such facility in JBoss Portal, nor will there ever be one as we have stopped working on JBoss Portal to focus our efforts on GateIn, our new portal offering. Note that monitoring via RHQ/JON is part of the things we look at for GateIn/JBoss Enteprise Portal Platform 5.

Is there any particular reason why you are still using JBoss Portal?

“GateIn” seems to be a nice toy indeed but prior to a migration we should dig more about the pros and cons related to our needs.

Indeed! WSRP-wise, GateIn has received lots of improvements over JBoss Portal, in particular with the implementation of WSRP 2 and, of course, there has been lots of improvements everywhere. However, since the architectures differ quite a bit, deciding to switch to GateIn should definitely be wisely evaluated. We also offer professional services to help you migrate.
