tschaefer Feb 24, 2011 8:44 AM (in response to javatwo)Hi Dave,
the first time you request a webpage your corresponding JSP files will be compiled. But not all of them, only the necessary JSP files to answer your request. What you need to do is pre-compile your JSP files into class files and place them into your WAR archive.
The following link will tell you how to pre-compile JSPs with Jasper 2:
http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/jasper-howto.html#Web_Application_Compilation
Cheers,
Timo.

javatwo Feb 25, 2011 12:48 PM (in response to tschaefer)Hi Timo, thanks for reply.
I use JSF pages, can it be used for pre-compiling JSF pages?
Is there a way to handle jsf tags such as <h:dataTable>, etc. so that the generated java code will not have <h:dataTable>, but some compiled code.
Thanks,
Dave

If you use JSF you shouldn't be using JSP at all. Do yourself a favor and use Facelets In the latest version of JSF, JSP has been deprecated for use with JSF.
