data table - with complex filter usage

Hi,

Rich faces supports a very basic filter field where u can insert a value to be filtered by.

We are looking for something more user friendly:

1. when filtering a date / numeric field it should allow to filter by a range, or to filter where field is greater than XXX etc'.

2. When filtering a field which is a look up field it should show a list selection which will allow to chose one or more values to sort by.

I have seen such a complex filter in action that opens in a small tool tip on each column header (as used in the extended data table tag for column sorting)

Any recommendations? I am willing to pay for an out of the box component that will allow complex filtering as described.

I believe you have to code for these complex filter requirements. And it should not be tough.

use popupPanel for filter content and attach to some link in header using something like there http://www.jroller.com/a4j/entry/richfaces_4_popup_panel_adds There the panel attached to toolbar but you could easilly do the same for link(getting element and position from event or just using jquery to get element by selector as done in entry)
