how to terminate a thread in JVM ?

Hi,

In a busy system, from the thread dump, I found a bad request tight with a java thread which takes longer time than expected and uses some CPU resource inside JVM. I would like to terminate that java thread rather than restarting the JVM which affecting other regular users. Any tool or API call to achieve this purpose ?

You can't stop a Java thread from outside the thread itself. See: http://download.oracle.com/javase/1.5.0/docs/guide/misc/threadPrimitiveDeprecation.html
