trimOverlayedElements and Calendar element

ModalPanel has trimOverlayedElements attribute that helps to display elements such as Calendar.
Is there any workaround or may be trics how to display full Calendar element inside ExtendedDataTable element ? I have column with java.util.Date value and want to input it using Calendar element.
