mente Apr 3, 2011 1:49 PM (in response to fkj)hi
in terms of usability, I abhor shift / ctrl + click! it sucks! anti-usability ... the average user doesn't know what to press ctrl or shift + click! was already reported in this ticket the "problem" RF-5852 ... we are now to version 4.0 Final. but the problem still persists as I see. Take for example primefaces, ICEfaces, etc, they have some components, compared with RichFaces, are far ahead in terms of usability !
Example DataTable Multiple Row Selection (primefaces):
http://www.primefaces.org/showcase/ui/datatableRowSelectionMultiple.jsf
is very user-friendly than the extendedDataTable of RichFaces.
In conclusion I hope we solve this, do not call this problem because it is not. but I call it "disadvantage".
Thanks in advance, and forgive the tone a bit harsh ! ;)
good job

ilya_shaikovsky Apr 4, 2011 6:56 AM (in response to mente)https://issues.jboss.org/browse/RF-5852 updated. definitelly agree that it should be done finally.
Speaking about "the issue still there" - we have a much migration work(redesinged markups, rewritten client library, CDK and so on).. So for the first 4.0.0 Final release we migrated only stable features from 3.3.x at most and not concentrated much on new features. But now after the Final - things will be changed.. so hope everybody will finally get the requested features soon
P.S.
the average user doesn't know what to press ctrl orshift + click!
The average user uses the same at most of the GUI applications(spreadsheets, emails clients.....) for ages And all the enterprise aplications I participated used that way.. So maybe it's critical in your particular case but definitelly not "blocker" in general. And b.t.w. extendedDataTable component was completelly contributed by the community.. So if somebody wanted to add just single feature - that could be easilly done in open source project

7. Re: ExtendedDataTable: select multiple rows without using the ke
ilya_shaikovsky Apr 4, 2011 7:22 AM (in response to ilya_shaikovsky)Sorry, that's really my fault. Actually that was implemented in 4.0 Final! (I just missed that it was changed from "postponed" to "for implementation" during development).. And not created corresponding sample.
Please try it out and let us know what are you thinking about it:
<rich:extendedDataTable
value="#{extTableSelectionBean.inventoryItems}" var="car"
selection="#{extTableSelectionBean.selection}" id="table" selectionMode="multipleKeyboardFree"
frozenColumns="2" style="height:300px; width:500px;">
