unfortunatelly seems the only immediate solution will be to return some list with the single value.

It would be great if the component can check if the roots attrib is a list, and if not use the value as the root itself.
I think such a fix would be simple and will ease conversion from RF3 to RF4.
Also note that the component documentation is talking about the "root" attribute, which obviously should be "roots"

it was like there in 3.3.x and will be again after the fix so thanks for your report.. will be helpfull to other who will migrate in future
