Collapsing The Rich Tree

I have a4j:support within an h:outputText element. When I click this tetx element the a4j:support calls an actionlistener to redisplay a section of my window. This all works fine. However, I also want to collapse a Rich:Tree when I click the text element. Can someone please advise the best way to go about this.
