Getting FINEST level logging in the server.log

Hi,

We have currently upgradin jboss from 4.0.3 to 5.1.0 GA and we are getting logs till FINEST level in the logs. I am using default jboss-log4j.xml file having log level INFO but still all the loggings are coming resulting in flooding of our log file. Can someone please help me in this regards?

Please find the attached jboss-log4j.xml and log files and let me know if something needs to be changed.

If you look to the boot.log you will see that the log level FINE/FINEST/WARN/DEBUG/... are registered.

FINE* might come from the java logging framework.

You logfile looks like that classes print logging to the STDERR and log4j redirect it to the logfile.

ERROR [STDERR] (RMI TCP Connection(2)-127.0.0.1) [FINE] RMI TCP Connection(2)-127.0.0.1: (port 4318) connection closed

Thanks a lot for the reply. Yes you are right. But is there any way to avoid this happening? I am not sure why it is happening with Jboss 5.0.1 it was not happening. Can you please give me pointers of what I can try to get away with Unnecessary loggings? Also I tried setting the

-Djboss.server.log.threshold=INFO as a system property.

What logger classes are you using in your application? java.util.logging.*?

Thanks for providing me the link. I tried it but, still it is giving Debug and Trace level loggings.

Please see the attached boot.log and server.log file after making this change JAVA_OPTS="-Dorg.jboss.logging.Logger.pluginClass=org.jboss.logging.jdk.JDK14LoggerPlugin
           -Djava.util.logging.config.file=logging.properties".

What does your logging.properties file look like?

It is a logging.properties file that comes in jre/lib. I am attaching this file.

Have you tried setting the level for your loggers in that file? Something like:

# For example, set the com.xyz.foo logger to only log INFO

# messages:

com.xyz.foo.level = INFO

Yes I tried that, but that is not working. When I debugged further I foudn that Debug level logging starts coming when some code in our LoggingInit Mbean gets executed.(Code attached) This code was working fine in earlier version of Jboss we were using 4.0.3. But not sure what has changes and behavior is changed with JBOSS 5.1.0.

handler.setLevel( Level.ALL );/// This statement causes the issue and start logging everything, if I change it to INFO - FINEST level loggings stop coming even after setting in logging.properties

Please see the attached code.Is there any other way to enable FINEST level logging?
