Simulation of process definition

Hi everybody,

I recall that many times the question was asked - is there any simulation tool for process definition available? During the time I had opportunity to work on Open Source BPM projects I found that it is a very valuable piece of BPM suite that in fact was missing (or I was not lucky enough to find one).

That pushed me to start such work and I would like to share it with the community and ask for you feedback. Please visit following wiki to get a first feeling of what I am working on (in my spare time so it does not get new features very fast but I am trying to do my best)

Please note that it is on PoC level and I would like to gather some thoughts and interest from the community to research if it makes sense to continue with the work.

Hi MAciej.

Interessting! Maybe for you it is interessting that I "once upon a time" built a working POC of a simulation using jBPM 3, see my Master Thesis: http://www.camunda.com/download/20080201-bernd-ruecker-business-process-simulation-with-jbpm.pdf and two sub sides of http://www.bpm-guide.de/open-source-bpm/ (unfortunately due to some homeopage refactorings a lot of links are broken :-().

Hi Bernd,

I was counting on your reply here - I read on of the articles you pointed out and going to read the rest now - once I got it so big thanks for your input.

I am in the middle of migrating to SourceForge so I hope I will have it ready by the end of the week(end). The plan is to have there in downloads available package (tomcat, signavio modeler and simulation engine) to be able to play around for a while and share some comments and thoughts about it.

while doing it you can get a short into in form of screen cast (without voice) but at least shows capabilities of the tools integrated together.

Again, all comments are more than welcome!

More over there is a first preview available to download and give it a test drive Just go to Simulation Engine Preview wiki page to read documentation, then download, test it and share your thoughts about it.

     I want to simulation in jbpm5.2, the tools that yours in http://sourceforge.net/p/bpm-accelerator/wiki/ can simulation the process definition in the jbpm5.2.

      And  I can't finde the document in the http://sourceforge.net/p/bpm-accelerator/wiki/, can you send me the document about simulation-preview-signavio for developer.

simulation that I've done was more like PoC and it is currently not enahnced any more (mainly due to lack of time) and it was not yet prepared for jBPM5 at the point I worked on it. Unfortunately there is no formal documentation for it. There is an initiative for simulation for both drools and jbpm you can find it here

Would be good if you could express your needs and requirements for simulation so we could take them under consideration as well.
