Thanks for your reply. I tried the option you mentioned however i'm still getting the same issue. The way around it was to remove the cascadeType.ALL and then changed the way i created classA which gave the correct behaviour. It seems as though even if i don't update the collection entityB audit is updated.

Please find attached a simple spring/hibernate envers example which demonstrates the issue. CascadeAllEnversTest shows i'm expecting a single entry in audit for the creation of ClassB but when i update ClassA i get 2 entries for ClassB.
