How long Jboss Portal will be maintained?

Hi there

I've tried Gatein but to much stuff is missing for me. I think it will takes more then one year that Gatein will be a production ready software like Liferay or Hippoportal.

So I'm asking me now if I start a fresh deploy, how long will Jboss Portal been maintained?

EPP 4.3 based on JBoss Portal is supported according to this page, we would not recommend starting a new project on 4.3:

EPP 5.1 based on GateIn is the version we recommend for production.

Why do you think EPP 5.1 isn't production ready ? Would be good to have your feedback, also what do you think is missing in GateIn compared to JBoss Portal ?

PS: There is no longer development on JBoss Portal project, the whole team + partners are working on GateIn/EPP5

What I'm almost missing is a good WCMS in the Ecosystem of GateIn. In fact eXo WCMS uses Oracle's JDK proprietary API. So in fact you couldn't deploy it on on IBM Blades (with PPC) or on Platforms like FreeBSD. On FreeBSD my prefered Platform, Jboss 5.1 and GateIn 3.2 runs perfect with OpenJDK6 only. The official Diablo Caffe JDK 1.6.0-7 has issues with IPv6. And a fix will breaks the licence with Oracle.

Here in my environment is no pleace for Oracle's proprietary stuff. Oracle JDK is the best, but it produces always problems with the licence.

Any runtime dependency on Oracle JDK should be considered a bug, you should open JIRAs @ eXo or support tickets on EPP-SP if you have such issues.
