autocomplete="off" on login form

Is it really necessary for the login form to have autocomplete="off", blocking my browser's ability to fill in my username and password from its encrypted password manager?  This might make sense on a bank site (although my credit union does not do it), but here?

Hello, well, yes, that's a default setting, ok. But this is really annoying for this community.  I've had to go through the reset password several times. Since changing it for this installation seems to be no problem, please do so. Or if you are not sure if everybody wants this, make it a profile setting "allow browser to remember password". Really, most browser do ask if they shall remember the password anyway, and anybody who doesn't want it, can easily click "never". Cheers, Tom.
