Center Portal Page setup

Hi,

I am trying to create a new portal via site publisher.  I created the center portal page.  However, it looks like there is a grey border surrounding the portal page area(There is left, right and bottom border but no upper border).  How can I get rid of these three borders?  It makes the screen so ugly.

Furthermore, in the example acme portal, it looks like there is a grey background color on the screen.  Please tell me how to make that?
